Manuals. Light names and meanings on model pages come from the makers' official owner's manuals, published free online. Each section names the manual and model year it is from.

Generations. Warning lights change when a model is redesigned, not every year. We compare the light list year by year and group years with the same lights into one section.

Colours. Many manuals show colour only in the printed icon. Where the manual text doesn't state it, we show the colour the light normally has and mark it "usual colour". The colour on your own dashboard is the one that counts.

Symbols. Every symbol on this site is our own drawing of the standard shape. They are not copied from any manual.
